What's In A Name Anyway?........
Anyone who has ever undertaken creating a blog will understand my journey of the past month or so. From my perspective, a name for a blog is an organic creation. I thought I could somehow grow into one....wrong! You must decide that first. I did, and ended up changing it within the first 2 weeks. I then realized that The Mystic Next Door was how I would describe myself, and that others could relate to being The Mystic Next Door in their own lives. For now, this is what the blog is called.…

How to Get Sexy, Visibly Fit™ Arms Just in Time for Summer
Winter is over. It’s time to put away the sweaters, jackets, parkas, and scarves. Peel off the layers and what to you see? Do you have arms that continue to “wave” seconds after you’ve waved hello or goodbye to someone? Does your child tell you to hold out your arms so they can get a little shade from the sun? Are you embarrassed to wear sleeveless shirts? All kidding aside...if you’re feeling this way, you aren’t alone. The average person that is 20 pounds or…

How To Live In Courage
“The secret of happiness is freedom. The secret of freedom is courage.” -Thucydides
Wonderful lessons have occurred in many areas of my life, and truth be told, some frustration and challenges. These are things that are important for personal growth and change, so I remind myself that living from the inside out, as well as living in courage is…

How to Deal with a Tactless Tyrant
For years I had the misfortune of working with someone who was disrespectful, unpredictable and moody. Some would call him a bully; I called him a jerk.
Because I wanted to be ‘nice’, I tolerated his behavior. I thought that if I said anything I’d be rocking the proverbial boat, and was seriously concerned that I might be reprimanded because he was in a position of higher authority than me.
I wasn’t alone - his boorish behavior affected almost everyone at work. Like the wind,…

From The Time I Was A Child.......................
One of the earliest memories I have of myself pondering things mystical, is as a child of about 5 years old, living on Avenue B in the East Village in New York City. I would be lying in my bed, supposedly tucked in for the night, peering into the darkness, repeating these words. "God always was, Is, and always will be". Man, that kept me busy…

Why We Need to Ask...and How!
When I interview people, it seems that men can state quite clearly what they think they are worth, and what they want to be paid. Interviewing women doesn't always get the same clarity. Money and promotions, especially, are difficult for many women to approach in a conversation with someone who is higher on the food chain at work. Sometimes, when women do ask, they come from a personal perspective: "My husband lost his job, and we really need more cash to pay the…

How to Triumph Over Fear
Fear is a distressing emotion. It’s aroused by impending danger, evil, pain, etc. It doesn’t matter if the threat to us is real or imagined; that feeling is real!
When those feelings are imagined, we stir them up with our thoughts. We can shift those thoughts and choose to focus on others, even conjure up pleasant memories to influence our emotions.
I’m not suggesting ignore your feelings. They are strong indices of how things are and how you are. Acknowledge them; pay…

Becoming More Confident
If you are insecure about something, you are not alone. It is very common to have low self-esteem in one area of your life or another. While it is normal to have those feelings, it can be self-sabotaging. When a person suffers from a lack of confidence, they may not try new things,…

Make Every Day a Great Day to Be Alive
Look at each day as your very own garden. Sow the right seeds to achieve your goals. Nurture your seeds appropriately and believe that they will bloom and grow into the most beautiful flowers you have ever seen. Don't dig them up with doubts.
Growth occurs in the root before it can be seen with the eye.
In other words, nourish your hopes with faith, or you may stunt their growth.
Don't waste time being anxious. Just let your heart and mind lead you to act on your own best…

They have contributed to who we are
There's probably no such thing as a perfect family, but our families are with us for the long run. We will be forever connected to them. They have contributed to who we are.
They don't just walk in and out of our lives. They are permanent occupants in the rooms in our hearts. We should value our families and not take them for granted.
Ideally, members of our families are always there when we need them. They aare in our thoughts, and we are in theirs. They make our lives easier by…

Live Your Life One Day at a Time
A child grows into adulthood one day at a time. A tree grows one branch at a time. A destination is reached one mile at a time. A job is completed one task at a time. A song is written one word and one note at a time. A dream comes true one step at a time.
Instead of being critical of yourself for all the things you haven't got done in years, focus on doing the best you can today. Sometimes we waste more time dreading to start something than it would actually take to do the…

A Different Kind of Love Story....
During the course of my lifetime, I've had the privilege to take care of quite a few fur babies. I've had 8 dogs plus their babies and 6 cats plus their babies too! A bunny, a guinea pig, hamsters, gerbils, 3 turtles, 1 Frog, and more birdies than I can count. Throughout it all, I have received such a vast amount of love and pure adoration from each and every one of them, that today I wanted to mention the most valuable teaching I have received from loving and grieving them. This is a…

One DAY!!!
One Day I was upon my knees , communing
with God upon the subject of my Mom's death.
and all at once He seemed to say to me,
''You love your Mother?''
Yes , I said.
''Well, did you love her for her own sake, or yourself?
If you loved her for her own sake,
why do you sorrow that she is with me?
Should not her happiness with me make you rejoice insted of mourn,
if…
